The Most Important Decision
1. Finish my to-do list.
2. Tell the truth.
3. Don’t give up.
4. Keep promises to myself and others.
5. Secure the future of my children.
My answer was different from everyone else’s. It’s “Take care of yourself.” It’s so obvious we miss it until there’s a breakdown of some sort, and the breakdown pulls all our attention to the here and now of self-care.
I watch my friends and family who have pets, and they take such good care of them. They would never think of feeding them something that isn’t good for them. They make sure they go to the vet and have their teeth cleaned, are fed at regular times, and have intervals of running around outside. They get lots of love, petting, and kind words.
But do we take the same amount of time for our own well-being? Hmmm. Think about it for yourself. Do you take time to take a walk? Have regular check-ups? Eat right? Rest? Speak kind words?
I know we have our standard reasons for neglect; busy life, work, family, and stress, but what’s the point of working our collective asses off if we don’t have the well-being? Take some time each day just to be well, breathe, and see what happens to your state of mind. Then tell the truth, finish your to-do list, don’t give up, keep your promises, and focus on your kid’s future from wellness.
I think I’ve rediscovered my mojo!
