As you say goodbye to another year, does a hint of anticipation run through you? Do you feel the urge to set down the baggage of the past that you may have carried for years to begin again wiser, willing, and able? A path forward exists.
Imagine each worry, each regret. The shadows that cling to your heart from days gone by. Write them down, each one, no matter how trivial or monumental they may seem. Then, read the list and allow yourself a quiet moment. Treat this list with a gentle farewell like chapters closing from the book of your life. These past experiences have been the unsolicited teachers of profound lessons, whether illuminating, bittersweet, or raw. Now, tear the list up slowly, mindfully, and thoroughly. This act is not a dismissal but an acknowledgment. With each tear on the list, a tear falls from your soul, cleansing and freeing. You did it. Take a breath. You're here now, if only for the space of a breath. Breathe in deeply the spaciousness of this newly cleared moment. With each breath, invite in what you want in the new year. Let your pen become a fine-pointed brush, swirling words of joy and purpose into the future year, writing what you want in a journal, a notepad, or post-it notes. I love Post-it notes that I stick on surfaces as reminders. I love journals to come back and read with wonder and recognition of who I am at different times in my life. Let these words be the seeds you plant in the fertile ground of the coming year. They are the foundation upon which you will build the new year. In this act of writing, you are not just moving forward—you are focusing on creating the future crafted by your own resilient spirit. Step forward into the embrace of the new year. The world awaits your next chapter. Comments are closed.
